Sporting Clubs Support

Our sponsorship investment to sporting clubs is important. Many clubs are still recovering from the financial impact of COVID. Participation levels in many sports have not returned to pre-COVID levels, impacting revenue from subscriptions and fees. We work closely with the clubs we support to share our community story and in return grow our banking business, enabling us to continue to provide sponsorship support. Sponsorship was provided across more than 10 different sports from small grass roots clubs through to our community partnership with the Box Hill Hawks VFL &
VFLW programs.

Sponsorship support enabled our club to widely promote our All-Abilities Blast program, with participation increasing by almost 300% this season. This increased exposure, led to Cricket Victoria offering our participants the chance to play on the MCG on the 3rd day of the Boxing Day test — a once in a lifetime opportunity. We were able to engage Sports & Life Training, to conduct an education session around ‘healthy masculinity’. In a world where sometimes young men struggle to know their place in it, this education had a profound effect on our members. It allowed them to feel that Burwood Cricket Club is a safe space to share their feelings and emotions and they understood that’s it’s sometimes okay to not be okay. The sponsorship enabled us to create real change within the lives of our members through active engagement, participation and education and our Club is the richer for it.
